Thread: please upload the apps with megaupload so we all can install it on the touchpad

i was wondering if all the developer can upload the apps with megaupload since it makes it much easier to download and install the apps on the touchpad without using the PC or with some other file sharing like mediafire since filesonic does limit how many one can download and there is waiting time. thank you everyone who shared and i really appreciate all yours hard work

God yes please. filesonic is crap and the TP cannot save from there and install. megaupload is easy so I don't need my pc to install the app/game.

OMG i encounter this problem everyday untill i relized it only downloads through Megaupload, i bet everyone has the same problem

Another thing maybe we should look into since we have the box.net 50gb for free is we could create a WebOSbuzz box.net shared group?

Seriously, you're getting these paid apps for free, and you're still complaining.

I can get apps just fine from Filesonic, even though I'm not paying. Maybe the uploader has a Filesonic account, and doesn't feel like uploading to others. Ever thought about that?

It's just funny how people think they're entitled to something when they're not. To reiterate, these are paid apps that you're getting for free. People are saying things like "where's the new version?" (not even a "please"), "no description?" (go look it up; this isn't a scene release with a set standard), etc. The uploaders are doing you a favor.

Really I think the guys are being polite in this instance and just saying that there are easier ways for downloaders to get the files!
I for 1 am very grateful to the guys for the uploads.
Whatever makes it easier for everyone is what we should be discussing.
I hope to try and upload something and will listen to what others have to say on the matter before doing so.

+1 for megaupload or mediafire - I HAVE a filesonic account, so d/l-ing on my pc is no issue - but FS simply doesnt work on the touchpad

Not an issue sure, but given that most phones have the ability to share 3g connection over wifi, it would be brilliant to be able to download the latest and greatest from webosbuzz on the move!

we are planning to implement megaupload links as well. but for now filesonic gives some money for the downloads, so I use that money to buy more apps for you guys.

I wish there was a service that gave money for traffic but their site wasn't so horribly designed it wouldn't work on the TouchPad. Anybody know of one?

I use mediafire and multi-upload because they seem to work flawlessly on the TP and i don't want to bother with plugging it in and using QuickInstall when PreWare usually works perfectly.

Thank you! people need to quit complaining... I like to try them out then buying the app and this has been a wonderful way of doing that!! people need to be more appreciative of what you do and the work you gotta do to allow this!!

Have you considered using a service that is an adbased passthrough for download links? That way you can either have a filesonic download for those on a computer, and those wishing to download directly to their touchpad can still generate you ad revenue.
I would also like to just say thank you gadgetBOY for all that you have provided for us!

Correction: it was mediafire not filesonic for sparkle HD (You can install games through Filesonic, I installed Need for Speed prostreet i think or some other game. The only problem is that after the first download on filesonic using the free user method, there is usually a 15 mins wait which is annoying but usually someone else uploads within the thread to MU or 4shared etc.

However if the application is compressed and password protected, i.e using winrar etc, then I do not know how to unzip it on TP even though I installed the Unzip patch.

Installing through TP:
For some sites that dont seem to download, all you need to do is COPY the download URL which is usually displayed at the bottom or within the download link and open preware, tap on top left corner within preware. Then choose install package (or something like that in the drop down list) and enter the url if it has .ipk extension and hit install... voila!! I personally installed one game using this method but could not install a 2nd game as the OP compressed the game and put a password on it, which was i think webosbuzz. But all i needed to do was hook it upto my lappy, extract the game using password and install thorugh preware or webosquick install.

Oooops sorry my mistake it was mediafire which kept crashing or saying page could not be loaded, so I copied the URL....

for those complaining with frustrating and anger, can go upload the apps themselves.

those who are just giving suggestions, thank you. and we are changing it up to another file sharing site really soon. (before the month is over).

FileSonic gives money back for the downloads, which in turn gives money for more Apps. That should not be something people complain about.

However, I do understand the need for another file sharing site. Here are my requests from you all.

Name as many sites as possible.

Sites that offer little to no time in between downloads. (like megaupload)
Sites that work on the TouchPad.
Sites that gives incentive for the downloads. (megaupload doesn't give any real incentive, more incentive more money to go back to apps)

Those are the main criteria. Post your suggestions, and I will make a decision before month is over.
