• webOS 3.0.4 Accelerometer Issues within webOS Apps & Games

    It is well documented that after the webOS 3.0.4 update that was pushed to us earlier last week has brought us some improvements in performance and even a camera app. Along those improvements there has been a string of accelerometer issues where the HP TouchPad does not recognize the movement or even responds to the tilt action for such games like Need for Speed and Asphalt 6.

    As for those who already have webOS 3.0.4 installed, we will have to wait patiently for a new update to fix this issue. Or you could use a webOS doctor to get back to webOS 3.0.2 form. A solution to this problem on HP's behalf will no undoubtedly show the support of webOS if there still is.

      I just got my touchpad the other day and can play both those games fine.

      The new webos has issues, maybe you don't have it yet. It is unplayable atm.

      it also takes up over 2 gb's of space I am just going to stay with 3.02

      How do you go back to 3.0.2? please someone post ome instrutions, HP/Pre say it can't be done. Webos Doctor just completely reset the touchpad with 3.0.4 v77 again.

      Download the 3.0.2 webOS doctor, just search webOS doctor and it will have a thread with all of them

      Thanks for the tips, worked great until my 10 year old installed the updates again!. Does anyone knhow to disable the update from prompting?

      The following worked great for me (use Xecutah/Xterm):


      cd /usr/bin
      mount -o remount,rw /
      chmod -x UpdateDaemon
      mount -o remount,ro /

      Then reboot the touchpad, hence, no more annoying notifications to update.

      after disabling the update from prompting, can we get the update prompt back if required?

      How can I save the game data (e.g. The game levels that have been already passed) and then retrieve it back after downgrading to 3.0.2?

      has been over a month now since the new HP update, HP has done nothing to fix a simple issue, I really fear webos is truely dead

      It hasn't been fixed. Asphalt 6 and Shrek Kart are still unplayable.

      That doesn't mean it's not fixed, they might just be unplayable games! :P Seriously, I tried Shrek Cart in 3.0.4 and it was totally unplayable. Under 3.0.5 it seems pretty responsive, I can at least keep the vehicle on the road, which I couldn't before. I show a marked improvement, YMMV. Supersonic HD is quite fun now that I can control the ship!
