Touchpad won't charge / turn on! HELP!
So last night my touchpad battery died so I decided to charge it so I could use it before I went to bed. Well it was charging for about 2 hours and I went to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on. I then tried the 20 seconds center button and power button hold and nothing happened. I also tried some volume up and power combination I was told and that didn't work either.
The charger didn't feel warm at all so I tried the charger on my brothers touchpad to make sure it wasn't a bad charger and it charged up the touchpad right away. So now I know the charger isn't bad.
What could be my issue here? I don't know why my touchpad isn't powering up / charging. I really don't want to have to wait to get it serviced either so if anyone has any advice for me please let me know.

I took this from another forum:
"Your charger can split into two pieces (for some unknown reason). Some came from the factory SLIGHTLY twisted inside, which appears normal but will not allow you to charge. Try twisting the charger piece slightly to lock it back into place if this happens to you."
I didn't have this problem with mine but maybe try twisting the charger back into place?

hold the power button and the center button on the screen both at the same time for 15 sec, your touch pad turn on, it happened to me before, thought my touchpad was dead
come to find out my touchpad went into deep sleep mode
to turn it back on hold those two buttons at the same time, it takes about 15 sec

Well, it seems that I've exhausted all possible solutions for this thing and it is a dead unit. This really sucks, as it took me a long time to get my hands on one of these things and it's dead.

Maybe try another micro usb cable? I have heard that some of the HP ones can get fried. Also try what sirron said and hold the power and home button for 30 seconds not 15.

The thing is the cable works fine on my Blackberries and my brothers touchpad so I know the usb cable isn't fried. This is so upsetting. I can't believe it already died.

The above worked for me which turned on the touchpad after thinking it was charging all night. No screen or nothing. After holding the buttons for 15 seconds it came on but nothing more. Nothing else worked. With the battery on the screen and charger plugged in I decided again to hold the two buttons down for another 15 seconds or so and it started booting with HP in the middle. It is now working fine and charging. Come to find out it didn't charge at all last night. Kind of stange to think you can't shut it down to charge it. Hope this added information helps.

I had a similar issue... over like a 3 week peiod i tried to fix it.... it would boot up or show a charging logo when charging... most of the time when it did show a logo it was the usb logo you get when you connect it to your computer. it was frustrating as all hell. i shipped it off thursday for repair.

its the usb input on the tp, the usb cable is not making enough contact with the usb input on the tp. Mine didn't want to charge or go into usb mode, I then got a small metal stick thing and pushed the usb connector up inside the tp's input. Hopefully that makes any sense haha. Well anyway, my tp works perfectly now, charges and goes in to usb mode. Good luck with that, I'm very careful now when I plug the usb cable onto the tp, it's very fragile.

Found out last night, to do a hard reset on the device, hold the power button, then push the home button 10 times. My wifes touchpad wouldn't power up and this is what brought it back to life.

One of the two TPs I bought had this problem. Finicky USB port that finally gave out and no way to get any sort of charge into it (Touchstone didn't work). I tried every conceivable combination of key presses as suggested in a number of different forums, all to no avail. So I bit the bullet, called HP, and sent it in for repair earlier this week. Hopefully I'll get it back before Christmas.

I had the same issue and used a "USB-to-micro-USB" cable from another cell with the HP barrel shaped transformer and it worked fine. The HP cable was good enough for that cell, but didn't carry the 2amp power to allow it to be recognised. Weird.
Has anyone been able to get the power cable replaced under warranty yet?

had it happen to me too. I dropped mine and it went into sleep mode. apparently if the device receives a shock the sleep mode acts as a kind of air bag...
