does plugging the touchpad in to charge and placing it on the touchstone allow it to charge faster?

    it makes sense to me.

Um... No! If that makes sense to you, you need to check your logic!

strong first post. It iss being charged by cord and separately charged via touchstone. 2 power plugs are used. Explain why this would not charge it faster.

The USB adapter offers over 2 amps of power at 5V but less than 1 amp is actually used to charge the device. The HP touchpad is in the upper end when it comes to charge speed and that has it's downside. a fast charge kills a LI-ion battery faster than a slow charge, so while a tablet that can give you 500 recharges before the battery no longer holds a charge, the touchpad may only give around 300-400 charges.

    It will not harm it

These devices will only use the power that they need. That is the reason why my cell phone charges at the same speed with a 2A charger as with a 1A but will take forever when charged via computer usb.

The touchpad will only what it needs and will not pull more than what a 2A adaptor can handle nor will it charge faster than via usb port only.

Most devices using lithium ion batteries have some strict regulations when it comes to charging which include temperature and current regulation.
