Glitch with the touchscreen
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced the same problems I've had with my touchpad's touchscreen so far...
The first one was always there. Every once and a while, it would just NOT register my touch. I had Remove Ripple installed, so I uninstalled it just to confirm. Sometimes when I tap the screen, no ripple occurs - it simply doesn't register the touch. I thought it was because my hands weren't warm, so I soaked them in hot water and tried again - similar results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I got used to this though..
What REALLY bugs me though is the second problem I've been having since the 3.05 update. Sometimes when I touch the screen and leave my finger there, it will register my finger as tapping the screen very quickly. I just opened up Memo and with my finger held onto the "H" without lifting, it typed in 'h', 'y', '6', '.', and spaces (' ') very sporadically with no pattern whatsover (Hh6. Yhy h6yh y 6yy6hy. etc etc). This one doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's stupid annoying. I had to remove my passcode setting because of it. I've tried restarting the touchpad without any luck.
I haven't gotten around to use WebOS doctor on it. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software issue yet..

Sounds like you have a bad touchscreen. I'd contact HP and see about getting it repaired under warranty.

Feel the edges of the glass where it connects to the plastic backing of the unit. Your glass may be coming away from the frame.
that's the problem I'm having. Just contacted HP and mine is getting repaired or replaced.

They told me it depends on how backed up the repair center is. If they can repair it quickly, they will send my unit back, otherwise I will get a replacement.
As far as S&H, I don't have to pay any of that. HP/Palm foots the bill.

I sent one back to repair a faulty USB port and it came back quick, like a week. They also send you a prepaid UPS 2-day box so it costs nothing to ship it back, and it comes back to you via next-day air. Absolutely nothing to complain about at all. It was quick, easy, and painless. The only downside is that they wipe the unit, so make sure you back up everything that's on there. App Catalog purchases can be re-downloaded, and the HP auto backup system keeps a lot of your settings and some system data, but anything personal like videos or pictures and stuff you need to save manually.

Awesome, thanks guys.
It hasn't really acted up in the past bit, so I'll leave it for now... but if it happens again I'll likely call HP to get it fixed.
Too bad I just bought a skin and touchscreen... would be a huge waste of money if the touchpad can't be fixed and has to be replaced.
