Should HP create a Gesture area on the TouchPad?

I personally believe that part of the wonder of WebOS is the Gesture area. I love how this works and love that I don't have to look for a back button to return or go back.

Currently there is a lot of fragmentation appearing on the apps. Devs are placing the back or return button wherever they deem fit. This is causing me to actually think before I can go back to a previous page. This is not what I consider WebOS.

    What do you think?

    Cheeeeeesecake!!!!

its sort of hard to do it on a touchpad with so much real estate. not sure how that will work and how they will put it, without making everything trigger the gestures.

Yes I know. I thought of something like multi touch as a gesture or using the accelerometers to determine the active swipe area based on the orientation.

I think this will be asking too much but it is definitely a good idea.

putting gesture for all sides except the front facing camera. And according to accelerometer, it will activate which side gets the gesture priority.

    you got a good idea.

actually given every other tablet on the planet has gestures - it's kinda necessary to be on the same game level

I don't think that is even a gesture. It might just be sometthing on the screen that sensors a real close proximity to the end of the tablet, that makes everything go card view.

yeh its basically a velocity motion that starts at the edge and goes inwards. they need to do something like dolphin HD browser which has alot of gestures for back/forward/up/down - love that browser for the android.

i was thinking if the playbook can play android apps - wonder how hard it would be to make the touchpad run android apps - that would be the hotness to have a emulator. if you think about it the touchpad could run android - it's just a snapdragon tablet. i bet someone could port android over from something that uses similar hardware lol. but an emulator like the playboard would rock

okay i found an app on android - it emulates the buttons for e-readers that don't have the buttons.

one of them uses gestures at the button to do the deed, the other just has floating buttons that remain floating (root) over all apps so i can imagine it is very much possible to do on webos.

the gesture idea - we just emulate the missing gesture pad by dedicating about 50 pixels (2 inches) by 10 pixels high at the bottom of the screen centered.

I'd pay $5 for an app that restored PRE gesture functionality
