Palm Pre's Battery Life
I find it really funny sometimes that my Pre would be charging and I'm doing some heavy multitasking and its charging but ALSO losing percentages in power. hahaha.

Lol.
I'm hoping that'll improve with the next couple of updates.
I'm really pumped for this next update.
New shit always gets my "gotta have it" tingles running wild . LolLife is a journey, not a destination.

For me the battery life is good.I play games, some wifi, calls and it survives 2 days
But I often charge it from the PC while uploading music/photos/apps to the phone.

if you use the sprint nav, it also drains as it charges.

I've got battery life efficiency worked out, but I have a friend new to the Pre Plus that's pretty terrible at figuring it all out.. Oh well.

Has anyone tried one of the extended life batteries?
- 05-10-2010, 08:16 PM #10
I've used the Seidio 1350mhz one, but honestly after using it for a while it seemed to die faster. Now I'm using the OEM one and seem to hold a charge about 20% more.

Using the UnixPsycho 104 overclock (800/500), lowering the screen brightness, turning off GPS, Wifi on, Bluetooth off, and setting Mail to update every 1 hour instead of as mail arrives. These settings easily get me through the day with pretty heavy use. I've been working on a mobile web site for work so I've had my Palm Pre running more or less all day and still make it to 11:00pm with about 27% left.

I've done a ton of tweaking on my Pre Plus to try and improve battery life, yet I still find myself charging it once or twice a day so it won't die. I have brightness LOWER than possible (with a patch that makes the lowest brightness 0 instead of the stock 10), wifi is always on, I never use bluetooth, GPS is only on when an application asks me for it, and I have mail checking every hour. It's amazing how Palm really didn't anticipate the battery drain. Kinda sad really. Unless that's why they market the Touchstone so much.

yep, usually have to charge twice a day with moderate usage, pretty poor!
Is there any way to turn 3g off, save a bit more power when not using the net?

I was told having mail checked 'as it arrives' used less battery life, is this untrue? I look forward to Mojo Messaging!
I hope a newer update gives better battery life.
Whoever said their phone lasts 2 days? Impossible! (You admitted you charge at a computer so that must be why.) Even without calls or gps or bluetooth i can't get my phone to last a full day. Plus it might as well be a paperweight if i'm not going to do anything on it tho!

Battery life seems to have gotten a little bit better since 1.4.5. Not all that much though.

it's not awful, but I wasn't used to a smartphone's battery issues before I got the pre. Definitely should have sprung for the car charger the day I got the phone, it would have prevented my having to hitchhike home after a midnight tire blowout.
