WARNING: For All Those Buying non-Official HP Touchpad cases I know many of you have been purchasing from the plethora of different cases out there to keep your Touchpad safe. However, many of these cases block the "Ambient Light Sensor" which is located at the top right corner bezel of the Touchpad. This will cause the Touchpad to dim the brightness because it thinks it is in a dark room.
You can easily see this sensor if you take a flashlight and shine it on the upper right corner of the front panel bezel. There will be a hole with the sensor within.
Keep this in mind when you decide to purchase a case for your Touchpad. The official Folio Touchpad Case does not cover the front bezel and so will not inhibit the light sensor.
EDIT: admins should probably sticky this for reference so everyone knows

You can turn off auto-dim in screen settings. Makes things a little less wonky with a non-spec, although you will need to adjust screen brightness here and there it won't do it automatically for you.
Honestly though, I think it's worth getting the HP case for lots of reasons - not the least of which being most non-HP cases block the speakers, cover the bezel for the swipe motion, and don't fit particularly well.

I would've gotten a HP folio case if all the hoarders didn't buy them all up. Got a really nice leather case/stand for an iPad 1 from Best Buy and it works for me just fine. Light sensor is blocked just a little and sound is just slightly muffled, but if I want good sound I use earbuds. I prefer to manually adjust brightness anyway.

Too bad about the sound being muffled. The TP has great speakers.

Im one of the lucky ones then. I bought a case off eBay, and it doesn't cover the light sensor

OH! A Ha!
That's why my screen dims everytime I trun the unit on.
I received a zippered book style case for an iPad from a family member.
I'll make some adjustments to open up that sensor to light, or turn off auto-dim.
Thanks.
