IngloriousApps Discussion
Fine, but the dev (inglorious apps) should at least consider fixing the calculator to do percent like a normal calculator. I mean, come on, even the built in calc can do it properly. $5 for an app that can't do that since its inception is unreasonable.
That's a legitimate gripe that should be addressed.

@gadgetBOY -
wow, YOU REMOVED MY POSTS!! I don't support censorship, in fact I'd sooner spit on it. You feel some need to kiss a developers a$$, that's up to you. But I can't remain a member of a site that censors reasonable responses to nonsense that is placed on a forum. My responses were within the rules you state on your site.
PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT. If you're going to let ingloriousgarbage screw you, I hope you use a condom.

Hey, if you had an issue with any feature of an app, it makes sense to contact the developer. Posting in a forum like this, yields no result. Now, to your issue. The calculator's "percentage" is different from what you may be used to (Actually, i thought i documented it in my faqs, but it turns out i didn't).
Here's how it works. It you want to find x% of y, you type "x%y" and hit "=". So, for example, to find 30% of 20, you type "30%20". So, the calculator isn't broken, it's working as designed.
As far as gripe goes, if that's your only gripe with the app, then I'm glad
, cos I know there's bigger issues, than the calculator.
Now, I've noticed people get worked up about apps/software having bugs, and expecting perfection. Just because it costs $5, doesn't mean it's going to be perfect out of the gate. Even Apple, as big as they are, they still ship products with bugs. If apple can get a break, why can't a lone indie developer get a break? Keep in mind, I've consistently updated the app since it's release. And if you find any issues, you can always send me an email (a lot of features and fixes are a result of direct user feedback). Sorry for going off topic

Not to state the obvious, but don't send me emails with support issues, if you didn't pay for my app...

You could simply wait for an explanation. Note that even Ingloriuous App's post content was deleted. I would have preferred that the posts be moved to a new thread instead of being deleted. But what is done is done. Not the end of the world. Certainly nothing to threaten this site over. After all, consider the potential liability the site owner may have faced.
Personally, I find it offensive to leave the "(refund)" in his donation tagline since a customer can't get a refund for buggy and shoddy apps. That really should not be there. Just the donation part for those who feel inclined to donate to a dev. And that's a happy compromise IMO.

Paid for it when it was on sale for $.99 and sent two emails before to you about the calc issue. The first time you replied with the method to do it which was some sort of odd reverse Polish Notation. The second time there was no response. Two of my other friends, who also bought the app based on my recommendation that they should get it at $.99, also sent you emails with no response.
I'm a reasonable guy, but things like this really bug me. I've bought the grand majority of my apps. Only two have I not paid for because they really aren't worth paying for... yet. They are buggy and unpolished and after several updates, haven't reached a level worth paying for.
The biggest problem is that while devs want to get paid, consumers have no recourse when an app isn't worth paying for. No refunds, no credits, poor support. But we consumers are stuck with it.
This post will probably get deleted. I would rather it and your posts be moved to a new thread. It's an important issue that needs to be discussed. Especially in light of the recent push to crack down on piracy or even fair use.
One of the biggest issues is that the consumer has no recourse, can't try before they buy, and the price of apps relative to what they do, how they do it and level of quality is way out of line. what I found shocking is that people actually bought memberships to MegaUpload. That says to me that people have no problem laying out money for software. But they seem to have an issue with paying the prices being demanded for software and other digital media.
[NOTE TO GADGETBOY - yes, this has gone off topic again. Rather than deleting the posts, if you would consider moving them to a thread of their own, that would be appreciated]Last edited by VitaminD; 01-24-2012 at 09:20 PM.

IngloriousApps Discussion
Ok, Here is a thread where you guys can shoot the shit.
I'm not censoring but rather deleting really demeaning and bashing comments from both users and devs.
The reasoning behind me deleting some comments are that they don't contribute anything to the thread except ruin it.
The developer has every right to ask for donations if there app is here. And we have every right to refuse, I don't see why everyone is making a big deal.PM me any of my threads needs an update.

I lurk around here now and then, and until I saw this dudes rant today I never really thought about registering. Didn't catch the whole deal, so I don't know everything about what went down. I also see something about deleted posts, so I don't know everything that was said and may be missing something important to understanding things.
But I have to point out something that's obvious and seems to be getting missed. The only reason, THE ONE AND ONLY REASON, a developer would be hanging out on a thread like this is to create problems. They do not support you here. Trust me. They do not. The dude is here to undermine what you are doing. PERIOD.
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

App Developers.... Regardless if the app is paid for or not. The developer of this or any other app for that matter, that would openly say
Is just an a$$hat... You know you can respond to the email and say thanks for the input etc and ask for the app to be purchased, but some people me included. Download something to make sure it is COUGH 'GOOD' COUGH... and works like a consumer would expect, or has an active community/developer that is open to ideas, or actually fixing things.IngloriousAppsNot to state the obvious, but don't send me emails with support issues, if you didn't pay for my app...
I haven't tried your app and I am doubtful that I would ever try one of your apps period on the attitude you have. All you have done that I can tell is to alienate your customers.
Jolly good show!!! :golf claps:

I can't fully recall what the IngloriousApp said, but I do recall that his attitude, demeaning nature, and obtuse logic is what set things off. Yes, a dev has every right to request a donation. In fact, I encourage the idea. But considering that the dev admitted that he's made more money than he thought he'd have made in spite of "piracy" makes it appear as nothing more than a greedy money grab on his part.
Ray88 did have very good rebuttals. It's too bad that they are gone. But even more important were IngloriusApps posts which Ray88 rebut. The posts by ingloriousApps really highlight the thoughts of the dev. Personally, I would have taken the time to edit out the "naughty bits" instead of deleting posts wholesale. Posters really should see the thoughts of this particular dev.
Luckily, the dev also posted some of what was deleted on this site, on other sites like mobilism.
That said, I will excerpt it here (taken from Mobilism):

I'll keep the quote of what developer has said, and you guys can debate it out here. I feel less content about this dev's work but do think he deserves donations if people uses his apps.
But its true, if he expects donations he should answer support emails/posts/tweets. We can't thrash him as well though because that would sort of be wrong.
PM me any of my threads needs an update.
